The I.DOT Non-contact Dispenser facilitates nl to µl volume dispensing for highly miniaturized cell assays using droplet microarray–mass spectrometry imaging platform

Employing DMA-MSI platform, they have demonstrated a highly miniaturized cell-based screening assay (downscaling 5 µL to 40 nL and only 10 cells per spot using I.DOT) with a label-free quantitative protein readout using MALDI–MSI.

This platform offers several advantages compared to other available technologies:

  • Label free proteomic readouts
  • Direct cell culture on DMA-ITO
  • Miniaturization of cell-based assays compared with standard MALDI target plates
  • Analysis of minimal numbers of cells per spot, down to single the cell level
  • A faster overall sample preparation workflow
